Term One Week Eight – Commencing Monday 24th March 2025

Harmony Day
This Tuesday is Harmony Day which is a very significant day for our community. At last count at St Emilie’s, we have 35 nationalities represented throughout our children and staff and 19 languages. On Tuesday, children are invited to wear any significant cultural dress significant to them or the colour orange which represents Harmony Day. All children will be treated to an icy pole treat on Harmony Day thanks to our School P & F.

Two Way Interviews
Over the next two weeks, all parents and carers will be given the opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher to discuss how your child has commenced the year. This is a timely opportunity for you to celebrate your child with their class teacher now that your child’s class teacher has had an opportunity to build a quality relationship, as well as gather data on your child’s learning progress.  

I ask that parents and carers be conscious of the 15 minute meeting time slot. Over the course of the next two weeks, our class teachers will be spending a significant amount of time meeting with parents and carers. This may slow the response time to any correspondence sent to class teachers so please be patient during this time. 

Please ensure that you are using this opportunity to play an active role in your child’s learning by booking an appointment with your child’s class teacher.  

URSTRONG Event
Families have been sent a link today via their email. All familes are invited to attend an ONLINE Language of Friendship parent-child workshop for URSTRONG Schools on Thursday 27 March at 6:00pm.  Dana Kerford, Founder of URSTRONG, will be live to teach you and your children skills + language to foster healthy, feel-good friendships. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn more about the language and skills that are explicitly taught at school, and we strongly encourage you to make the time to join the online workshop this Thursday.

Year Six Camp
During Week Seven, a number of staff had the privilege of joining our student leaders at Woodman Point Campsite for Year Six Camp. The children in Year Six represented themselves, their families and our school in the manner we have become accustomed to here at St Emilie’s. 

A massive thank you to the staff members who attended Year Six Camp last week for being so giving of their time to create this once in a lifetime opportunity for the children. 

Term One Reminders
An email was sent from myself on Thursday 20th of March with some reminders to ensure that the year continues to run smoothly. I encourage all parents and carers to read the message. 

Waste Free Lunches
As you will be aware, at St Emilie’s we have a focus on sustainability practices in line with the Laudato Si Encyclical from Pope Francis about protecting ‘Our Common Home’. If you would like information on how to prepare a waste free lunch, please follow the link here.

Fuse Cup
This week, a number of Year Six children will represent St Emilie’s in the Fuse Cup, which is an eSports competition, aiming to create healthy online habits. Thank you to Ms Harris for preparing these children for the day. Boys and girls, we wish you all the very best in your efforts at Fuse Cup. 

Kindy Enrolments 2026
We are now calling for Kindy enrolments for our 2026 Kindy cohort. If you know of anyone with a child due to commence Kindy in 2026 who would like to join our vibrant and diverse community, please encourage them to submit an enrolment application or contact the school for further details.

P & F Committee 
In Week Six, an email was sent to all members of our community calling for nominations to join the P & F Committee. If you would like to nominate or have further questions about what this involves, please check the email sent on Wednesday 12th of March.

CEWA Easter Colouring In Competition
This Easter, CEWA is once again encouraging children from Catholic schools across the state to submit an entry for the CEWA Easter Colouring In Competition. This is a great way to provide a creative opportunity for those children who are interested.

Parent Circle – Thursday 27th of March
A reminder that The Parent Circle will take place this Thursday 27th of March in the Small Hall. The theme for The Parent Circle this week is around celebrating our many cultures in line with Harmony Day. All are welcome and invited to bring a plate of a dish from your cultural background.
