Created in 2024 after a year-long collaborative process involving all staff, the Vision for Learning captures and aligns the core teaching and learning beliefs of St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School, drawing from foundational documents such as the CEWA Bishops Mandate Letter, School Vision and Mission Statements, Staff Handbooks, and the Alice Springs Education Declaration.

At the heart of the Vision is the grapevine imagery, symbolising our connection to Saint Emilie De Vialar’s birthplace, Gaillac (France), where wine is both historically significant and spiritually central to the Eucharist. Each grape on the vine is unique – just like every member of our community – and they support one another in growth. The hand-drawn artwork, reflects the imperfection and strength of the vine, shaped by time and pruning.

Rooted in the School Motto “Growing in Grace”, and inspired by the Gospel of John, “Make your home in me as I make mine in you. I am the vine and you are the branches,” the Vision reminds us that God is our foundation and calls us, as Catholic educators, to nurture growth through Him.

Key elements of the Vision include:

• The inclusive term “educator” to reflect that all staff contribute to student learning.
• Visual representation of our House Charisms (De Vialar, Gannon, MacKillop, Mazenod) through coloured leaves.
• Five belief statements (leaves) showing our commitment to being child-focused, Christ-centred, valuing early years, empowering students, and honouring teacher impact.
• A one-page, aspirational, and living document displayed throughout the school, celebrating our strengths while encouraging continual growth.

This Vision unifies our mission and practice, honouring our history and guiding our future.
