Dear Families,
What a year it has been ‘Growing in Grace’ at St Emilie’s in 2024.
This week’s edition of the Weekly Reminders is a chance for us to share some important housekeeping information to end the year as well as ensure that the 2025 school year commences smoothly.
Before this information is shared, on behalf of the staff at St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School, I would like to sincerely thank all of the parents and carers in this community for the absolute privilege and honour of entrusting us with your children each day. We take our role very seriously here at St Emilie’s to ensure that our children receive the best quality Catholic education that we can provide. Thank you for your ongoing support and authentic partnership.

2025 Staff List
We are very excited to share the 2025 Staff List with parents and carers. In really positive news, no staff will be moving on from St Emilie’s in 2025 meaning that we retain all of our current staff from this year. This is fantastic news for the continuity of our teaching and learning program here at the school.
We are pleased to announce that Mrs Stacey Polinelli and Mrs Vera Quick will join our staff as Education Assistants in 2025. Both Mrs Polinelli and Mrs Quick have been regular relief staff here at the school and we are delighted that they will be joining us on a more permanent basis.

2025 Class Lists
2025 Class Lists will be sent home to parents and carers on Thursday 12th of December via email. The process of deciding class lists at St Emilie’s is a very robust process in which numerous staff members in various roles and the children themselves have input. Please note that class lists when emailed home are final.
First Day of School 2025
A reminder that the first day of school for children will be on Wednesday 5th of February 2025. You can also find a list of our 2025 Term dates, including Pupil Free Days and Public Holidays on our website here.

Please note that the 2025 Parent Information Evening will be held on Wednesday 5th of February which is the first day of school in 2025. More information will be shared in the new year.

2025 Year Reps will be decided this week from the nominations sent through via the Form shared with the community a number of weeks ago. We are still looking for another Year Rep in Year Three, Four and Five. If you are interested in taking on this role, please email me at chris.burns@cewa.edu.au

End of Year Reports
On Thursday, End of Year Reports for children between Pre-Primary and Year Six were shared with families through Seqta Engage. To ensure that you receive your child’s report, please be sure to have the Seqta Engage app downloaded on your phone and ensure that your log in is working. If you need assistance logging in, please contact the school.
It is essential that you read your child’s End of Year Report and celebrate the growth with your child. Please also make note of the areas where your child still has room to grow. Over the six week period, this is a great time to assist your child in these areas before school commences again next year.
If you would like to speak with any of your child’s teachers about the End of Year Report, please contact your child’s Class Teacher before Wednesday 11th of December.
Black Shoes for the Start of 2025
A reminder that the School Uniform Procedure at St Emilie’s states that children must wear full black shoes only. Coming to the end of the year, we understand when shoes start to come apart due to a year’s use or, that children may have outgrown their shoes.
At the commencement of the 2025 school year, all children must have black school shoes as per our expectations.
Appropriate Haircuts to Start 2025
This is also a good opportunity for parents and carers to be reminded of appropriate haircuts to start the year. While we understand that the school holidays may bring with it some funky haircuts, it is important for the start of the school year in 2025 that haircuts are in alignment with our School Uniform Procedure. Essentially, haircuts should be modest with no extremes in length or need for excessive styling with product. These types of haircuts are not in alignment with our School Uniform Procedure and can often distract from learning.

Is your child returning to St Emilie’s in 2025?
As we draw closer to the end of the year, planning has commenced at the school for the commencement of the 2025 school year. If your child is not returning to St Emilie’s for the 2025 school year, can you please email the school Administration at stemiliesadmin@cewa.edu.au to notify the school.
Fee Balances
As we enter Term Four, it is timely for families who have remaining fee balances to work toward closing these balances for the year. The school fees that parents and carers pay at St Emilie’s are a vital source of income for our school and ensure that we can resource the school in the best way for the children in our care.
We recognise from time to time that families may have difficulty in paying school fees. If this is the case, I would ask that you contact the Administration Office to arrange a confidential conversation with myself.
First Lego League State Championships
This Saturday, Ms Harris will travel with a number of children to participate in the State Finals for the First Lego League. This is the second year in a row that our school has competed in this competition and the second year in a row that our children have made the State Finals. Good luck St Emilie’s!
Welcome to the world Baby Ayla!
Finally, to end the year, we are pleased to share that Mrs Tiana Matkovich, her husband James and son Ari welcomed the very adorable Baby Ayla Marie Matkovich to the world on Tuesday 3rd December.

Fruit of the Holy Spirit
Patience
“Patience” in Galatians 5:22 literally means “long temper,” in the sense of “the ability to hold one’s temper for a long time.” A patient person is able to endure much pain and suffering without complaining. A patient person is slow to anger as he/she waits for God to provide comfort and punish wrongdoing.
God is patient, and His Spirit produces the fruit of patience in us. When we are patient, we leave room for God to work in our hearts and in our relationships. We lay down our schedule and trust in God’s. We thank the Lord for what and whom He’s brought into our lives. We let God be God.

These holidays, use your family time wisely—not by being everywhere and doing everything but by simply being together and giving everyone in the family the chance to pause, reflect, and enjoy the richness of life.

Ngala Parenting Line – funded by the WA state Government
The Parenting Line offers free telephone advice and support to parents and carers of children up to 18 years of age throughout Western Australia
Our team of qualified and friendly staff are on hand to offer information, strategies, reassurance and encouragement. They help parents and other professionals find the appropriate organisation or service to meet their need.
Hours of operation are 8am to 8pm, every day. The Parenting Line operates as a Call-back service.
