Dear Families,
Thank you for your support today, joining staff at school for Two Way Meetings. Communication between school and home is essential to ensure that children grow to their full potential. As stated in our School Vision for Learning, one of our core beliefs states that,
‘As Catholic educators of quality, called to courageously inspire and support all children, we believe that parents are the first educators of their children. We authentically partner with parents.’
While we strive to hold ourselves to this core belief in all we do as educators, Two Way Meetings provide an official and scheduled time for us to partner in the best interests of the children. In order for us as professional educators to continue to impact your child’s holistic development, these opportunities for partnership are essential. Going forward, please continue to take on these opportunities for partnership as they are offered. We very much appreciate your time.
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who completed the Mid Year Report Celebration Forms before the Two Way Meetings. To start the meetings by sharing the points that your child was proud of, and the points that you are proud of, ensures that we are celebrating our children’s God given gifts. This communication between school and home also ensures that our children know that we are in partnership.
This coming week, children from the parish, including children from St Emilie’s, will be joining with their parents and carers for First Holy Communion Workshops. Thank you to the staff and catechists involved for preparing these opportunities. As these children continue to prepare to celebrate this very important Sacrament in the Church, I ask you to keep all of the children and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
A reminder that Monday, 11th of August is a Pupil Free Day for the children. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday, 12th of August.
Science Week
This week is Science Week at St Emilie’s, with some very exciting and engaging learning opportunities taking place with a focus on the Science Learning Area. Mrs Soulsby, our school Science Teacher, has organised an incursion with Young Einsteins for children from Kindy to Year Six. The crew from Young Einsteins will join our children on Wednesday and Thursday this week. The theme of the visits will be ‘Decoding The Universe’.

Dance Troupe & Hip Hop Crew
This Friday, a very exciting evening is in store for our children who are involved in the Dance Troupe and Hip Hop Crew as they travel to the Perth Convention Centre and Exhibition Centre to perform their items as part of the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. These children have been preparing for their items since last term and have been extremely committed to ensuring their items are ready to share.
This year is a very special year for our school, given it is the first time that we have entered a Hip Hop Crew into the festival.
A huge thank you must go to the very talented Ms Dreyer, Ms Fallo and Mrs Green for preparing their children. These items take hours of preparation, and we truly appreciate these three staff members being so giving of their time.
Strategic Planning Workshops: Invite to Register for Planning Workshops
This year, staff at the school are in the process of developing a strategic plan, which will provide direction for our school toward 2030. During this process, consultation with key stakeholders in the community is vital. Thus far, the children, staff and School Advisory Council have been invited to reflect on the strengths of our school as well as share their hopes and aspirations for our community going forward.
I now invite members of the parent body to come to school to share their thoughts and hopes about the future direction of the school. All members of the parent body are invited to attend the session on Wednesday 13th of August, from 9:00am to 10:00am

St. Norbert College Sibling Discount
We are pleased to share with our families that the sibling discount which is offered at St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School, now extends to those families who have children at both St Emilie’s and St Norbert College. If you would like to know more about the sibling discount relationship between both schools, please contact our Administration Office.
Please note that the opportunity to take up this offer ends on Friday 15th of August.
School Uniform – Online Ordering
In exciting news for our community, families are now able to order school uniforms online from our school uniform supplier, Perm A Pleat Schoolwear. Online ordering can be found on the school website using the following link.
We also look forward to children returning to school in the correct uniform to commence Term Three.
As was shared last term, girls are most welcome to wear navy blue 70 denier tights underneath their skorts if they wish, however, as the School Uniform Procedure explains, these should not be worn with socks. In regard to jewellery, chains with a small religious or cultural icon are permitted, however, they must be worn underneath the uniform at all times for health and safety reasons.
Year Two Assembly
This coming Friday, our Year Two children will lead us in assembly in the School Hall. Please come and join the fun and stay for a cuppa afterwards. Assembly commences at 8:45am.
Parish Movie Night
The Parish Office has kindly invited all in our community to a movie night on Saturday, 16th of August, commencing at 6:45pm. This promises to be a great family event for the cold and wintery weather. Please scroll down for further information.
Parish Workshops
Our Parish continue to offer some very interesting and relevant workshops to those in our community. Flyers for the following workshop have been added to our Community Notice Board next to the Early Years Area as well as added below.

P & F Footy Tipping
As we draw closer to the pointy end of the AFL Season, the action is heating up in the St Emilie’s P & F Footy Tipping Competition. As it stands, the competition standings are as follows:
1st Place – Lauren White (135pts)
2nd Place – Mark Grima (135pts)
3rd Place – Marlows (133pts)
4th Place – Bishop (133pts)
Its tight at the top! Can Mrs White hang on to claim the crown this year, or will Mr Grima manage to catch her up?
Parent Circle
The next session of Parent Circle for the term will take place this Thursday the 14th of August. All parents and carers are most welcome to join in on the morning.

August Theme: RESPECT 💚
Hi Ninjas,
This month in URSTRONG, we’re focusing on one of the most important ingredients in any friendship – respect.
Respect is something we show through our words and actions. It’s about treating people with kindness, listening to their ideas, and valuing who they are – even when they’re different from us. Respect is what helps our friendships grow strong and stay strong.
In URSTRONG, we’ve learned that no friendship is perfect – sometimes we have little conflicts known as Friendship Fires. But when we have respect, we can get through those tricky times in a way that brings us closer, not further apart.
In fact, Friendship Fact #3 teaches us that trust and respect are the two most important qualities in a friendship. Without them, friendships don’t feel safe or strong.
So, how can we show respect every day? Here are some Friendship Ninja tips:
- Listen with your whole body – Show someone you care by giving them your full attention.
- Speak kindly – Our words have power, and respectful words make others feel good.
- Own your actions – If you’ve hurt someone, saying sorry shows maturity and respect.
- Celebrate differences – Everyone is unique. Respect means appreciating what makes others special.
- Include others – Make sure no one feels left out. A small invitation can make a big difference.
You can think of respect like a seed. If we plant it and care for it with kindness and fairness, it grows into strong, healthy friendships – just like a beautiful friendship tree!
So, Friendship Ninjas, let’s all commit to choosing respect every day. It’s one of the best ways to build a school where everyone feels safe, included, and valued.

Love is the heartbeat of Christian life. It’s not just about affection—it’s about action. It’s choosing to see the best in others, to speak life into every situation, and to create spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and uplifted.
In our school community, love looks like:
- A kind word to a student who’s having a tough day
- A smile shared
- A teacher who patiently listens
- A friend who stands up for what’s right
- A staff member who quietly goes the extra mile
Let us be intentional this week in how we affirm others. Let’s notice the quiet achievers, celebrate the small wins, and speak words that build up rather than tear down. Positivity is contagious—and when rooted in love, it transforms lives.

Attendance Procedures
When your child/ren are absent from school please either email the teacher firstname.surname@cewa.edu.au and stemiliesadmin@cewa.edu.au
or
Use the Absentee Form on our Website.
It is a legal requirement for parents to contact the School regarding any student absences. Parents should email the teacher and include admin by 9.00am on the day of the absence with the following information:
- Full name of student
- Year group
- Reason for absence and expected length of absence
- Your name and relationship to the student
- Parents are required to inform the school if the absence is expected to be extended.
Absentee Long Term
It is a requirement for parents to complete the Leave of Absence – Notification Form when taking planned extended holidays during the term.
Parents are required to return the below form to Administration prior to the absence.
Leaving Early
1. While we understand it is difficult to make specialist appointments outside of school hours, we strongly encourage you to do so where possible.
2. Please ensure you are emailing the class teacher along with admin, if your child is going to be taken out of school early for an appointment.
Keyed Up Music
St Emilie’s partners with Key Up Music to offer after school Music lessons.
Keyed Up Music will be teaching guitar, keyboard, voice, violin, and drum lessons after school. Please head to the Keyed Up Music Tab on our Website for more information.
