From the Principal
Dear Families,
This edition of the Weekly Reminders is dedicated to all of the fathers and father figures in our community. We wish you all a very happy Father’s Day on Sunday. We also keep all those fathers and father figures who are no longer with us in our prayers as Sunday approaches. The impact of the fathers and father figures in our community, both past and present, is visible for all to see here at St Emilie’s.
At St Emilie’s, our children are supported by some fantastic male role models in the form of Father Jean Noel, Mr Cogger, Mr Dabbs, Mr Davis, Mr Hewitt, Mr Lowry and Mr Munro. These men who work with our children across a variety of roles each day, show up to St Emilie’s and make an impact. Being present, day in and day out, makes a positive difference to our community. To the father figures of St Emilie’s, we wish you a lovely day on Sunday and thank you for your part in shaping the future generations of children from St Emilie’s.
Over the course of the week, when preparing to write the Weekly Reminders, I was reflecting on what makes a father or father figure’s role special and important. The point that stood out to me the most was around positive role modelling.
For me personally, being a father to my three beautiful children fills me with joy. The thing I like to do the most in this world is spend time with my family, and to be able to watch my own children as they grow and journey through life is something that I never take for granted, and I give thanks for every day.
Can being a father or father figure have its challenges? Absolutely, however, in times when things feel heavy or difficult, I feel heartened by the fact that there is no guidebook to being a father or father figure. The special and unique thing about being a father is that everyone does it differently and in their own unique way. To the fathers and father figures in our community, I use this opportunity to remind you to be kind to yourselves over this weekend, remembering that you make a difference in the lives of your little people.
Your role is important in the development of our young people. Be sure to celebrate the good!
Thank you to the staff who came to school early this morning to celebrate our fathers and father figures at the Father’s Day Breakfast, and to the P & F Committee and volunteers who also assisted in ensuring that the breakfast was a success. This year, we had a massive number of pre-ordered breakfast burgers, with 426 breakfast burgers being ordered by Wednesday afternoon. What an amazing response!
De Vialar House Day
This Thursday, children and staff in De Vialar House, will celebrate the House Feast Day for De Vialar House. The birthday of Saint Emilie de Vialar takes place on the 12th of September , and in honour of this, De Vialar Day will be this Thursday.
Families with children from De Vialar have been emailed to ask for donations of men’s track pants, which will be passed on to the St. Patrick’s Community Centre in Fremantle.
Farmers Market
As part of the school’s Learning Extension Program, the Innovation Group has been working on researching, preparing, planting, growing, maintaining and harvesting their own potatoes. The children are at a stage where they will be selling these potatoes at a Farmer’s Market Stall next Friday, the 12th of September , outside the front of the school.
Please come along and purchase a pack of potatoes, which includes fresh mint and a potato salad recipe. The packs can be purchased for a gold coin donation
House Athletics Carnival Novelty Items – Friday 19th of September
This year, we will once again be selling novelty items for the House Athletics Carnival on Friday, 19th of September. These items bring colour and vibrancy to an already action packed day, and purchases made through the school earn money that is shared back into purchasing resources for the children. So, the more you purchase, the more money we have for resources for our children.
A flyer with information on how to make a purchase has been sent home with your child.
P & F Volunteers Form and a Call for Donations of Prizes
Between now and the end of the year, there are some very exciting events which will take place at St Emilie’s. These events, supported by the P & F depend on the involvement of parents and carers to ensure that the events are safe, fun and engaging for all involved. So, why not come along and join the fun by volunteering your time. It is a great way to contribute to the life of our school.
Please visit the P & F section of the Weekly Reminders below to access the link for the volunteer Form.
We also use this opportunity to put a call out to the community for any donations or assistance from our community (especially family businesses), who may be able to assist with donating prizes for the various events. Please contact the school Administration Office if you can assist.
Pre-Primary Assembly – Friday 12th of September
Please come along and join our Pre-Primary children and the Pre-Primary staff as they lead assembly for the very first time on Friday. Assemblies are open to all members of the community, with morning tea being served afterwards. We hope to see you there.

URSTRONG
September Theme: Forgiveness ☀️
Hi Ninjas
Can you believe it’s already September? A brand new month means a brand new theme in URSTRONG, and this month’s theme is one that’s close to the heart: FORGIVENESS.
We all know that mistakes happen in friendships – sometimes we say something without thinking, sometimes we let our friends down. That’s why URSTRONG teaches us how to use the Friend-O-Cycle and the Talk-It-Out strategy to sort through those tricky moments. But here’s the real magic: forgiveness. When we forgive, we give our friendships the chance to heal, grow, and become even stronger than before.
Think of forgiveness like dropping a heavy backpack you’ve been carrying around. When you let it go, you feel lighter, freer, and ready to run forward again. It doesn’t mean what happened was okay, but it means we’re ready to move on without letting anger or sadness weigh us down.
But here’s something we sometimes forget: forgiveness isn’t just for others – it’s for ourselves, too. Everyone makes mistakes. We all have moments we wish we could rewind. Part of being a true Ninja is learning to say, “That’s okay, I’ll try again tomorrow,” and being as kind to ourselves as we would be to a friend.
And that’s the big message for this month: you can’t be the best friend to others unless you’re also a good friend to yourself. So Ninjas, remember to treat yourself with the same kindness, patience, and forgiveness you’d give to your BFF.
Forgiveness is a superpower — and every single one of you has it.

Fruit of the Holy Spirit
Goodness
At St Emilie’s, we are called to live out the Fruits of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. One of the most powerful ways we can do this is through goodness—especially when it is expressed by helping others.
Goodness is not just about being kind or doing the right thing; it’s about actively seeking ways to serve others, even when it’s inconvenient or unnoticed. It’s about seeing Christ in every person and responding with love, compassion, and generosity.
In our classrooms, playgrounds, and homes, we are surrounded by opportunities to show goodness. Whether it’s helping a friend who’s struggling, supporting a teacher, or reaching out to someone who feels alone, every act of goodness makes our community stronger and more Christ-like
Matthew 25:40
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
➤ Every time we help someone, we are helping Jesus Himself.
Galatians 6:9-10
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore opportunity, let us do good to all people…”
➤ Goodness is a daily choice, even when it’s hard or unnoticed.
Proverbs 11:25
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
➤ Helping others brings joy and renewal to our own hearts.
Hebrews 13:16
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
➤ God delights in our acts of goodness, especially when they come from a place of love.
