From The Principal
Dear Families,
This is the final edition of the Weekly Reminders for Term Two. What a terrific term it has been at our beautiful school!
Holy Week, which is a very important week for us all as a Catholic community, commences this week with Palm Sunday. This week on Tuesday, all in our community are invited to attend the Holy Week Tableaus, which will take place straight after drop off on Tuesday morning in the School Hall. This will be led by our Year Five children, and we thank these children and the staff in these spaces for their assistance.
A reminder that this Friday is Good Friday, where we take time to stand in solidarity with Jesus through his darkest hours. There will be no school this coming Friday, the 3rd of April.
Project Compassion 2026
This week, we call for all donations for Project Compassion to be returned to the school by the end of the week. We thank you all for your efforts in fundraising for those in need.
Interschool Swimming Carnival
A huge congratulations to all in our Interschool Swimming Squad for their efforts at the Interschool Swimming Carnival. As always, the children from St Emilies conducted themselves really well and did us proud. In the pool, our team finished third overall. Well done, boys and girls!
Harmony Day – Wednesday 22 April
This week was the official date for Harmony Week. Given the short nature of the school term and the very busy schedule, we have decided to celebrate Harmony Week next term. On Wednesday, the 22nd April, children are invited to wear orange or their traditional dress. The children will each receive a Calipo on this special day.
Watch Straps (Neutral Straps)
‘It has been noted that a number of children are wearing watches to school. The definition of watch in this case also includes Smart Watches, Fitbits and other accessories that have the capability to tell the time.
A reminder that children are able to wear watches to school. Watch straps must be neutral colours (white, grey, black or navy blue). The reason for this is that we do not want watch straps to become a distraction from learning or to become a competition between the children as to whose is the brightest or most trendy.
To ensure the safety of children at all times, watches should not be able to connect to the internet or to a mobile network. If they are able to, this function must be switched off and locked. Watches should also not have video games or cameras on them as this is not only distracting, but is also unnecessary and presents the temptation for misuse.’
Easter Treats
As Easter approaches, we ask that children refrain from bringing easter treats and gifts to school. While this is a beautiful idea, and so very generous in nature, we are conscious of not only allergies, but the pressure that this places on other families in the cohort to do the same, while the cost of living continues to skyrocket.
First Weeklies of Term Two
Please be advised that no Weekly Reminders will be sent at the end of next week. The first Weekly Reminders for Term Two will be sent in the second week of the school holidays.

Fruit of the Holy Spirit
Joy
As we move closer to Easter, we pause to reflect on one of the most radiant Fruits of the Holy Spirit: Joy. Unlike fleeting happiness that depends on circumstances, joy is something much deeper. It is a quiet, steady confidence that comes from knowing we are loved by God and called to share that love with others.
Joy grows in us when we place our trust in God, but it also blossoms most beautifully when we give of ourselves. There is great joy in giving—giving our time, our patience, our forgiveness, our kindness, and our presence. So often, the smallest moments of generosity become the spark that brightens someone’s entire day.
Examples of Joy in Action
- A student helping a classmate without being asked.
- A teacher offering encouragement to someone who is struggling.
- A family choosing gratitude even during busy, challenging weeks.
- A simple smile or greeting that lets someone know they are seen.
- Serving others quietly and humbly, just as Jesus did.
In each of these moments, joy isn’t just felt—it is shared, and in sharing it grows.
A Prayer for Joy
Loving God,
Thank you for the gift of joy—
A joy that grounds us, comforts us,
And reminds us of Your constant presence.
Help us to be people who bring joy to others
Through our words, our choices, and our acts of giving.
Fill our school community with Your light this Easter season,
So that we may share Your love with all we meet.
Amen.
Wishing You a Joyful Easter
As we enter the Easter season, may the hope of the Resurrection fill your homes with peace, joy, and renewed strength. We wish all our students, families, and staff a joyful Easter and a refreshing holiday break. May the grace of this sacred season remind us that joy is God’s gift—and one we are called to share generously. Blessings and joy to you all this Easter.

A Note from the School Health Nurse
Caitlin Amos
Welcome to the new school year. I am the nurse that will be visiting your school throughout the year.
School Health nurses support children’s healthy development and wellbeing in primary schools. We offer a free health check (School Entry Health Assessment) for all children in the year that they start school. You may receive a School Entry Health Assessment form via your child’s teacher. If you sign and return it, we can check your child’s vision, hearing, teeth, growth, and development.
School Health Nurses provide feedback and support to families and schools after assessment and connect you with services in the community. We promote parenting programs and help with health care plans for students with identified and chronic health needs. Additionally, we may provide advice and support for some areas of the curriculum delivery on request by the school.
Further information about the role of the nurse in primary schools can be found here:
