Term One Week Eight – Commencing Monday 23rd March 2026

Dear Families, 

This week’s edition of the Weekly Reminders comes direct from Woodman Point Campsite, where the children are currently winding down from a day of exciting activities and enjoying a Movie Night. 

Year Six Camp is another example of the School Vision for Learning in action, with the children being provided with opportunities to participate in experiences that they would not be able to receive at school. It is a great privilege for us as educators to be entrusted with the care of the children for three days, and I would like to thank parents and carers for continuing to put their faith in us.  

I would like to publicly thank the staff who attended Year Six Camp, giving up time away from their own families for the betterment of the children, as well as the staff who remained back at school, for the generosity of time and flexibility to help out where required during the week of Year Six Camp.

Year Six Camp through the Eyes of Jade 

Camp was a fun and amazing experience. I made a lot of memories with friends and had an awesome time doing activities like rock climbing, zip lining and archery. Archery required a lot of encouragement from friends along the way to hit the target. I will always remember the times I spent at Year Six Camp because it created a lot of memories and fun experiences.

Camp has been a memorable experience. The best thing about Camp is that I get to do lots of challenges with my friends, such as zip lining, vertical challenge, archery, raft building and search and rescue. I really like search and rescue, but I also liked raft building. I will always remember the challenges that I have done together with my friends. 

To those in our community who celebrated the Feast of Saint Patrick and those in our community who celebrated The Feast of Saint Joseph this week, I hope that you had a lovely time during these respective Feast Days. 

Gannon House Day – A Warm Welcome to Special Visitors
This Tuesday, the 24th of March, our community celebrates the Gannon Hose Day to remember and celebrate the service of Sister Margaret Mary Gannon in the early days of St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School. 

As is usually the case, all children in Gannon House will be asked to wear their Gannon House Shirts on Tuesday. Information for families with children in Gannon House has been shared earlier in the term. This year, we are blessed to have some very special guests from overseas joining us for the special day, with Sisters from the order of The Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Apparition joining us for the day. The Sisters will join the staff for morning tea and then participate in the special prayer service after recess. The Sisters will also spend some time with the children in Gannon during the morning. 

URSTRONG Parent Information Session
This week, on Wednesday the 18th of March, Mrs Tonkin shared an email with the community about the URSTRONG Parent Information Session, which, like previous years, will be shared with families via Zoom. 

As a school, we are encouraging all families to join together and take part in the information session. The information session is pivotal in further educating children and families about the URSTRONG Whole School Friendship Strategy, and over the past few years, St Emilie’s has been very well represented in terms of attendance.

Interschool Swimming Carnival
This Wednesday, children from Year Four to Year Six will be travelling to Aqualife Aquatic Centre in Victoria Park to take part in the Interschool Swimming Carnival. The children joined together last week for swimming training and brought some fantastic energy and enthusiasm to their training. 

We wish all of the boys and girls all the very best at the carnival on Wednesday! We are proud of you. 

Year Three Assembly
All in our community are most welcome to attend the Year Three Assembly this Friday. 

Two Way Parent Teacher Meetings
Two Way Parent Teacher Meetings have commenced at school this week, and it has been great to see parents and teachers partnering with one another for the children here at the school. 

In line with one of our core beliefs from the School Vision for Learning, which states, ‘As Catholic educators of quality, called to courageously inspire and support all children, we believe parents are the first educators of their children. We authentically partner with parents’, we ask that all parents and carers book a time slot with your child’s Class Teacher to celebrate your child and ensure that there is alignment with the way forward in helping your child to grow to their full potential. 

Project Compassion 2026
As is the case across all Catholic schools at this time of year, we have commenced our efforts with Project Compassion for the Lenten season. Project Compassion is an opportunity for us to stand in solidarity with those around the world who need our prayers and assistance financially. When opportunities arise throughout Lent to support Project Compassion, I ask that you do your best to support. 

Last week, collection boxes and further information were sent home with the children for Project Compassion.

Complaints & Disputes Process at St Emilie’s
As part of the Re-Registrastration Standards for Non-Government Schools in Western Australia, schools are required to create and make accessible to their community a process that addresses complaints and disputes in the school. 

This process can be found on the school website here. 

Supervised Hours at St Emilie’s
A reminder to parents and carers that children should not be on site at school until 8:20am. 8:20am is when our school officially commences our duty of care for the children at St Emilie’s, with staff rostered on to supervise the school in the morning and ensure that all of the boys and girls that attend the school are arriving safely and are ready to learn.

P & F Hot Cross Bun Drive
Once again, St Emilie’s P & F Group will be offering school families the opportunity to purchase hot cross buns as a fundraiser for our school. Orders are open NOW. Please see below for information to order. 

CEWA Colouring Competition
Once again, Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) will be hosting an Easter Colouring Competition for children across catholic Schools to enter.

Beyond The Screen with Dan Principle @ Corpus Christi College
Corpus Christi College is hosting a free parent and community workshop, Beyond the Screen with Daniel Principe. 

Daniel Principe is a highly regarded presenter who works with young people, families, and schools to address topics such as online influences, relationships, consent, and digital wellbeing. His sessions are engaging, practical, and designed to support families navigating an increasingly complex digital world.
