Term Four Week Four – Commencing Monday 3rd November 2025

Interschool Athletics
Earlier this week, selected children in Year Three to Year Four travelled off site to Gerry Archer Reserve, Belmont, to compete in the Interschool Athletics Carnival. Over two days, our school was represented by children who, through their display of excellence at the House Athletics Carnival, were selected to compete at the interschool carnival. 

In beautiful conditions, our children gave all they could to retain the shield. In a nail biting finish, Saint Maria Goretti’s School, Redcliffe, just pipped St Emilie’s for the shield. Congratulations SMG! 

A huge congratulations to all of the children who competed, the amazing staff who assisted with the children and our travelling army of parents who came to cheer on the blue and gold! Go St Em’s! 

Remembrance Day Poppies
On Tuesday, the 11th of November, St Emilie’s will host a Remembrance Day Prayer Service for the children at the school. This prayer service will be led by our Year One children and we are very proud of our children and their efforts in this space in leading our community. 

Mrs Yock has kindly sourced poppies for each child here at St Emilie’s. Poppies will be handed out to the children on Tuesday 11th of November. In order to support the Red Poppy Appeal, which is a way that we can support all of our veterans, we are inviting children to donate a gold coin during Week Four. Gold coin donations can be brought to school during Week Four and handed to your child’s Class Teacher, the Administration Office or to Mrs Yock in person in Year Five Gold. 

School Toilets for Adult Use
A reminder that adults are not permitted to use the toilets that the children use at school. The children’s toilets have signs outside the door with a sign that says these toilets are for children only and that adults are not permitted. Toilets for adults who come to the school site are located next to the Multi-Purpose Room near Year Five and on the oval side. A baby change table can also be found here. 

At St Emilie’s and across all CEWA schools, we have an absolute commitment to ensuring that all children at our school are safe at all times. If you have alternative people collecting your child from school, I would ask that you please pass this message on to them to ensure that all adults across the community are clear on this expectation. 

Notify School If Leaving
As we draw closer to the end of the year, planning has commenced at the school for the commencement of the 2026 school year. If your child is not returning to St Emilie’s for the 2026 school year, can you please email the School Administration Office at stemiliesadmin@cewa.edu.au to notify the school. 

Fee Balances
As we enter Term Four, it is timely for families who have remaining fee balances to work toward closing these balances for the year. The school fees that parents and carers pay at St Emilie’s are a vital source of funding for our school and ensure that we can resource the school in the best way for the children in our care. 

We recognise from time to time that families may have difficulty in paying school fees. If this is the case, I would ask that you contact the Administration Office to arrange a confidential conversation with myself. 

Social Media Age Restrictions
The Australian Government announced that from 10 December 2025, age-restricted social media platforms will have to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under the age of 16 from creating or keeping an account. The restrictions aim to protect young Australians from pressures and risks associated with social media use. 

While many platforms already have warnings for children not to create accounts, the reality is that even in primary school, many children have access to social media accounts. 

As a School Principal, I welcome these changes to age restrictions and would like to use this opportunity to remind parents and carers to please be vigilant with your child’s use of technology. As parents, when we all face these challenges together and ensure the expectations are clear, we are better placed to keep our children safe.

P & F Footy Tipping
With this year’s AFL Football season well and truly done and dusted, it is time to congratulate the winners of the 2025 St Emilie’s Footy Tipping competition. This year’s competition had 55 participants of all abilities and age ranges, however, there can only be one winner.  

Congratulations to Mrs Lauren White, who keeps to tradition alive of school staff winning the competition. 

The final top three places after the 24 rounds were:

3rd Place – How’s The Serenity

AI Parent Workshop
On Saturday, November 22nd (1:30 – 3:30pm), St Emilie de Vialar Parish is hosting an afternoon workshop at the School Hall titled “Making Sense of AI”, presented by Dr Anne Burlinson on behalf of the WA AI Hub. 

The parish would like to extend this invitation to school families, as the session will provide valuable insights into navigating an increasingly AI‑mediated world with wisdom and discernment. 

Father Jean‑Noel Marie has spoken very highly of this workshop, which he attended a few months ago and found deeply enlightening. At his request, we are running it again so that more people may benefit.
