Term Three Week Three – Commencing Monday 4th August 2025

International Day of Friendship
If you felt that last Wednesday was a bit ‘greener’ than usual at St Emilie’s, you would be right. On Wednesday, our children celebrated International Day of Friendship with a free dress up day in the theme of green, which is the colour of friendship, friendship bracelet making with buddies and a special interactive live session with Tyson and Dana from URSTRONG! 

International Friendship Day was a great opportunity for our community to reflect on our journey with the URSTRONG Whole School Friendship Strategy and the growth that has been made. The language of URSTRONG infuses all we do here at the school, and parents and carers are once again encouraged to jump online for their free account and familiarise themselves with the language and learning from URSTRONG. 

A huge well done to the team of staff that led this day so beautifully! A great day was had by all.  

Interschool Cross Country Runners Up
On Thursday, 24 children between Year Four to Year Six represented St Emilie’s at the Interschool Cross Country Carnival. In another great showing at this event, the school finished in second place with some fantastic individual efforts. A huge thank you to the children who participated on the day for the way they represented our school so well. A massive thank you also to Mr Davis and the other staff involved in preparing the children for cross country and to our parents and carers who consistently show up to cheer the children on! Go Team St Em’s! 

Welcome to St Emilie’s Sadie Mae Hewitt
In really exciting news for our community, the newest member of our school community, Sadie Mae Hewitt was born last Friday. Sadie Mae, Mrs Hewitt and Mr Hewitt are doing well and Mr Hewitt is enjoying his quality time at home with Sadie Mae. Congratulations to the Hewitt family! 

Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival: School Band & Christian Dance
This week, children across the school officially commence the St Emilie’s entries into the Catholic Schools Performing Arts Festival, which St Emilie’s takes part in each year. 

Each year, thousands of children from across Catholic schools in Western Australia take part in this very extensive and diverse festival showcasing the amazing God given gifts and talents of the children within Catholic schools in the state. 

This Tuesday, the Christina Dance group makes their way to Mercy College Koondoola to share their item, which they have been working so diligently on. We wish these children in Year Six all the very best. 

On Thursday, the St Emilie’s band led by the very hip and happening Mr Dabbs travels to Orana Catholic Primary School in Willeton to showcase their gifts and talents. Go well boys and girls. We are proud of you all. 

P & F Planning Meeting – Committee Members Only
A reminder that the P & F Meeting which included in the important dates on the school website is a planning meeting for those in the P & F Committee only. The Community P & F Meeting for all in our community to attend will be held later in the term. 

Mid Year Reports Celebration Forms – Please Complete by Two Way Interviews With Your Child
At the end of last term, Mid Year Reports were shared with parents and carers. In a slight evolution to our usual practice here at the school, this year, we have asked parents and carers to note the celebrations from their child’s Mid Year Report after having a conversation with their child about what they have done well. These celebrations will be shared with your child’s Class Teacher at two Way Interviews.

I will use this opportunity as a reminder that reports are not addressed to the children. Parents and carers must firstly read the report, understand what is being shared and then relay this information to your child in an age appropriate way.

Year Three and Year Five Religious Education Assessments
Religious Education is considered the first Learning Area here at St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School. The teaching of Religious Education is timetabled daily with the content from the Learning Area being integrated into other Learning Areas across the school day. 

This term, children in Year Three and Year Five will participate in the Religious Education Assessment. This assessment aims to provide the children an opportunity to showcase their learning from Religious Education as well as provide school staff a snapshot in to areas that the children have a clear grasp on, as well as areas that require some attention individually and as a collective. 

This week, children in Year Three and Year Five will participate in the assessments. We wish these children all the very best. 

Strategic Planning Workshops: Invite to Register for Planning Workshops
This year, staff at the school are in the process of developing a strategic plan which will provide direction for our school toward 2030. During this process, consultation with key stakeholders in the community is vital. Thus far, the children, staff and School Advisory Council have been invited to reflect on the strengths of our school as well as share their hopes and aspirations for our community going forward.  

I now invite members of the parent body to come to school to share their thoughts and hopes about the future direction of the school. All members of the parent body are invited to attend the sessions on the following dates: 

Wednesday 6th of August from 2:00pm to 3:00pm 

Wednesday 13th of August from 9:00am to 10:00am

St. Norbert College Sibling Discount
We are pleased to share with our families that the sibling discount which is offered at St. Emilie’s Catholic Primary School, now extends to those families who have children at both St Emilie’s and St Norbert College. If you would like to know more about the sibling discount relationship between both schools, please contact our Administration Office. 

Please note that the opportunity to take up this offer ends on Friday 15th of August. 

School Uniform – Online Ordering
In exciting news for our community, families are now able to order school uniforms online from our school uniform supplier, Perm A Pleat Schoolwear. Online ordering can be found on the school website using the following link.

We also look forward to children returning to school in the correct uniform to commence Term Three. 

As was shared last term, girls are most welcome to wear navy blue 70 denier tights underneath their skorts if they wish, however, as the School Uniform Procedure explains, these should not be worn with socks. In regard to jewellery, chains with a small religious or cultural icon are permitted, however, they must be worn underneath the uniform at all times for health and safety reasons. 

Parish Movie Night
The Parish Office has kindly invited all in our community to a movie night on Saturday, 16th of August, commencing at 6:45pm. This promises to be a great family event for the cold and wintery weather. Please scroll down for further information.  

Parish Workshops 
Our Parish continue to offer some very interesting and relevant workshops to those in our community. Flyers for the following workshop have been added to our Community Notice Board next to the Early Years Area as well as added below. 

In the coming weeks, the parish is offering workshops on the following: 

August 12th: Elder Abuse Awareness- Safeguarding Program Workshop 

August 28th,  September 11th, 18th, 25th : Sacrifice Of The Holy Mass- Adult Faith Formation
