Our fruit of the Holy Spirit focus this term has been LOVE. We put our poetic skills to the test by using imagery to paint a picture of what love is like, and used our graphic design skills to complete our LOVE TREES. We just LOVE the finished product 🙂

Japanese Year 5 & 6 Post Term 3
Recently, we have started looking at information report writing. We’ve been learning about Australian Pioneers and next week we will begin creating dioramas and reports on some of the events that shaped Australia into the country we know today.
Before we start writing this report, we had a go at creating some brand new mythical creatures. Some of us combined some existing ones together, and others made something entirely new. We needed to organise our information under appropriate sub headings, and include facts about our creature.
We have also started a new class novel called “Blabbermouth”. It is the story of a mute girl named Rowena, who is starting at a new school. She has some struggles fitting in, so we tried to put ourselves in her shoes and describe a scene from her point of view.
The First Fleet
During HASS this term, we have been learning about Australian history. We have been investigating some of the most significant events in our history and one of those was the arrival of the First Fleet. We learnt many facts about the First Fleet and we used this information to draw a ship!
We’ve also been reading about the impact the arrival of Europeans had on our indigenous population in our class novel Young Dark Emu. We now know that there were many unfortunate conflicts that occurred because of many of these significant events, but it is especially important that we continue to recognise Aboriginal people as the traditional owners of this land.
The Easter Story in Year Five
During the season of Lent, we have been thinking about the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us. We have already written Lenten Promises and prayers, and displayed these across our classroom and in the front office.
We have now started to take a closer look at the Easter Story. We retold the story on our iPads, and will now use this as a plan to create a whole class Stop Motion video using lego! We are working in small groups to film individual parts of the story, and while this is happening, we have also been rehearsing for our upcoming STATIONS OF THE CROSS assembly. We’ve had to learn our lines and practise our scenes ready to begin filming next week.
Here are some sneak peak photos – and stay tuned for the finished products very soon!

Year Five Museum Excursion
On Wednesday, 27th October, the year five students travelled to the WA Museum Boola Bardip to learn about the history of Western Australia. Boola Bardip means many stories in Whadjuk Nyoongar; the Country on which the Museum sits.
We worked in small groups to explore the museum and we learnt about the significance, history and identity of WA. We discovered different ways the Aboriginal peoples remain connected to the land and we understand the importance of working together to continue to sustain this beautiful land we share.
Despite the weather, we had a fantastic day and we can’t wait to explore more of these themes in class over the remainder of term four.
