Week 6 – God’s Family
This week in Religion we have been learning about what members of God’s family do when they go to Church. We talked about how people bless themselves with Holy Water and genuflect when entering the Church as a sign of respect. We also spoke about the differences between a crucifix and a cross. We learnt about the importance of what the cross and crucifix symbolise.
In Art we created our own crosses.
2 Gold used paint and tissue paper to make a collage.
2 Blue made their cross with sticks and wool.
We can’t wait to show you our finished crossed for Open Night.
Junior Sport
This week we have been making the most of the cooler weather by completing some of our lessons outside.
During Junior Sport we broke up into our factions and raced each other to collect as many tennis balls as possible. McKillop won twice and Gannon once. 
During our Talk4Writing lessons we innovated our Story Map of ‘Hey Little Ant’ to be ‘Hey Little Flower’. The children innovated their own story map. Some children changed their story to be about… bees, spiders, butterflies, bunnies and grasshoppers. They have learnt their story map with actions. You might like to ask your child to perform their story to you at home.
Week 4 – Learning about families
This week in Religion we have been learning about our families. We have discussed how our families are similar and how they are different. We have also learnt how families cooperate and show love to each other. In Geography we have talked about where our families were born and have lived.
To capture our learning we have made some beautiful family trees.
Next week we are going to learn about Jesus’ family and how he helped and showed love to his Mum and Dad.

Please find attached the Purposeful Practice Grid for weeks 2 and 3. Please note, your children have not received their spelling words or reading books yet, they will receive these in week 3.
Today your children will be taking home their Purposeful Practice exercise book, please complete homework in this book. They will also bring home a copy of the grid below. If you have any questions regarding their homework please don’t hesitate to contact your classroom teacher.
Our first in Year 2
Our first week in Year 2 was a blast!
This week we have loved getting to know each other by playing some get to know you games. We have enjoyed learning lots of new things and sharing our holiday stories.We have also loved playing in our new play areas these include; a space station, vet, sensory tent and construction site.
