This week we have been learning about Advent. We learnt that Advent is a time of waiting for the coming of Jesus. We learnt about Advent by making our own Advent calendar, to count down the days to Christmas.
Marnie – “it’s a time to remember Jesus and a countdown”
Brenton – “It’s celebrated in most places in the world”
Jaden – “It’s a very important time of the year and it’s very special”
Jayden and Gabriella – “During Advent you always see the colour purple, it means to be patient”
We also learnt that during Advent we try to be our best selves by practicing and showing the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. We set ourselves three goals that we will try to achieve during Advent.
On Friday 29th October, the Year Two’s went on an excursion to the Perth Zoo. We caught the bus in the morning from school and travelled to the Zoo. Once we arrived, we met the parent helpers inside and ate our crunch and sip. We broke off into our groups and some groups went exploring around the Zoo and the other groups went and did the guided activity called Gwabba Boodja. For this activity we met a Zoo Keeper at the Dingo exhibit and went and read a story where we learnt about the Noongar seasons and names for animals in the South West. Through story, costume and animal observations, we explored and celebrated the differences between animals, and how their bushland habitat provides for their survival.
