Welcome Back to Term 2!
Exploring Visual Arts in 1B
Having fun with Art!
It is hard to believe we have been in Year One for nearly a term! We have been learning new routines, making new friends, trying new activities, accepting challenges and surprising ourselves with how independent and responsible we are!
Art and craft is an important part of life in Year One Blue. We love to cut, glue, draw, colour and create. It’s amazing what we can do with paper and a roll sticky tape! Our activities have allowed us to explore the art elements of colour, line and shape.
We have been talking about the concept of ‘identity’ this term. We loved working on our Identity Collages which are now proudly on display in our classroom. We created a portrait of ourself using a range of collage materials and water paint. Some of our final creations look very realistic!
After reading the big book ‘Shoo Fly’ by Jill Eggleton, we combined our art skills with our designs skills to create our own fly. We designed our fly first, followed our design to create our fly and are looking forward to sharing them with you soon! Our class was buzzing with excitement!
We have been talking about the importance of friendships in Religion. We have spoken about how we can be a good friend and how we can show love to others just as Jesus did. We have been busy creating a Friend Collage using loose parts. We have had so many creative ideas!
