PP HAS BEEN BUSY!
There has been lots of excitement in PP over the last few weeks! We have been busy with our 100 days of school, fathers day celebration and book week!
100 DAYS OF SCHOOL
A few weeks ago we celebrated our 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL! This was an exciting milestone for the PPs to reach, well done! 100 day of full time school! We were very surprised and impressed when our PP’s came into school looking 100 years old! Oh how they have aged this term! They all looked fantastic, well done and thank you parents for your support getting them ready!
We had a busy day filled with making 100 link chains, 100 movements, counting by 10s, writing to 100, racing to write our names as many times in 100 seconds, making 100 crowns, necklaces and bracelets, building towers of 100 cups, drawing ourselves as 100 year olds, writing about what we would do with $100 and so much more! After a fun filled morning we celebrated with our picnic morning tea with plates filled with different 100 selections of food! We finished our day by counting the different 100 collections that the children all brought in. We are experts at counting now! Have a go with us at home so we can show you our amazing counting skills.
FATHERS DAY
Last week we had a very special morning with our mums, dads and bunnings! We brushed up on our woodwork skills and made some boxes for Dad’s fathers day surprise. We were blessed with such beautiful weather and really enjoyed the storytime and a big play outside. Thank you to all of the parents that came in for this morning. We hope you had as much fun as we did. We look forward to further celebrating fathers day with you some more this weekend!
BOOK WEEK
Throughout the last few weeks we have been reading all of the nominated books on the book week shortlist. We have shared many giggles and enjoyed getting our way through these awesome new books. On Tuesday we watched the Bigger, Brighter, Better show and dressed up as our favourite book characters. Everyone looked fantastic! Thanks families for helping us get ready for this day, we loved seeing all of the creativity in their costumes!
We look forward to seeing what comes next in our PP term 3 adventure!
Bye for now!
Pre-Primary Investigations & NAIDOC Celebrations
Welcome back to TERM 3 in PP!
Pre-Primary began this new term by celebrating NAIDOC Week through many different activities. Students have thoroughly enjoyed learning more about bush tucker and exploring in our own bush food garden here at St. Emilie’s.
Students are enjoying their morning Investigations where they have been practising their skills in creative ways using their imaginations! Miss Van Ryt is settling in well to Pre-Primary Blue and has felt very welcomed and is excited for the semester ahead.
Thanks for reading! We will see you again soon! Love PPB & PPG!

PP News
National Sorry Day
Wednesday the 26th of May was National Sorry Day. We enjoyed discussing the importance of this day and how we can celebrate Indigenous culture. We have been sharing stories around Indigenous culture and reflecting on fairness and equality. This week we made handprint flags with the Aboriginal flag colours. We discussed the meaning of all of the colours on the Aboriginal Flag. The yellow represents the sun, the red represents the land and the black represents the people. We are looking forward to continuing to explore Indigenous culture next week as we head into Reconciliation week.
Sustainability
Sustainability has been a big focus in our PP classrooms this week. We have been looking at different ways that we can be sustainable at our school and in our homes. We are developing a very special appreciation for our wonderful earth and the beautiful gifts of nature. We have talked about how we only have one planet earth and how important it is that we look after it. Ask as at home if we remember some of the ways we can look after our planet.
Update- what’s been going on in the Science lab?
Firstly Mrs Cogger’s little kindy friends have been investigating seeds and leaves.
The students put on their safety goggles to remove seeds from veggies and sort them.
Luckily for the Pre-Primary we had a sunny day so the students were able to investigate shadows on the basketball court.
And then in the afternoon Mrs Cogger took the 4G students to the sandpit to conduct an erosion investigation.
Science is everywhere!
PP Learning in Literacy!
Learning in Literacy
This week in Literacy we have been focusing on reading, sentence writing and CVC words. Building up these skills takes time, practice, repetition and lots of encouragement.
It has been wonderful seeing all the PP’s ‘giving it a go’ and trying their best!
Keep up the great work Pre Primary Gold and Blue!
Sentence Writing
We are reminded when writing a sentence to use a capital letter to start a sentence, finger space between words and a full stop to finish.
We are trying our hardest to use the correct formation when writing letters.
We have all been doing a great job with our phonetic spelling of words.
Well done PP’s!
