Over the past few weeks, the Year Sixes have been working hard on planning, designing and creating their very own board games. Their task was to incorporate the mental computation strategies of Jump, Split and Compensation within their mathematical game. Student’s then had to use these strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems involving whole numbers and decimals. Some game names include, “Space Economy”, “Magic Math”, Difficult Dimensions” and “Math Mania”.

Term 2 in Year 6 So Far!
The Year 6’s have started off their term with a jam-packed two weeks. We are so happy to have them back from holidays and ready to learn!
Last week, Year 6’s had their first Eagles Cup game against St Maria Goretti’s Catholic Primary School and performed phenomenally in netball, soccer and football. All teams came away with a win and many students reported the amazing teamwork and sportsmanship that was on display. We are very impressed with how our Year 6’s represented St Emilie’s and we can’t wait for our second game in Week 3.
This week, students finalised their Open Night work samples and put together a slideshow to take home and share their learning. Students also completed their ‘Identity’ T-shirts and had an awesome day designing and creating their artwork.
We have such a busy term to look forward to and we are excited to make it a great one, full of rich learning experiences and memories.
